Vampires: The Turning

30. VAMPIRES: THE TURNING

For 100 years a war has raged between good and evil. It will end tonight

Released: 2005
Director: Marty Weiss (The Pre Nup, Backwoods).
Starring: Colin Egglesfield, Patrick Bauchau, Nophand Boonyai, Stephanie Chao, Dom Hetrakul, Meredith Monroe and Roger Yuan.

The synopsis goes something like this ...

In Thailand, Americans Connor (Egglesfield) and his girlfriend Amanda (Monroe) quarrel at a Muay-Thai fight. Amanda then storms off and asks a stranger for the direction of the hotel the couple is staying at. The passer-by turns out to be a vampire called Niran (Hetrakul), who bites her on the neck and kidnaps her with his gang of 'evil' vampires on motorcycles. Connor soon has to join a clan of 'good' vampires, led by Sang (Chao), to try and save Amanda.

Something to sink your teeth into ...

The film is a very loose - and seemingly inept - second sequel to John Carpenter's Vampires (1998), starring James Woods. The first follow-up was Vampires: Los Muertos (2002), with Jon Bon Jovi as the star and Tommy Lee Wallace behind the camera. IMDb notes, in its revealing mistakes' section, that when one of the female characters is bitten in the alleyway you can see the end of the tube where the fake blood is pumped from.
