The film was attempting to cash in on the name recognition of Young Frankenstein (1974) when Vampira was renamed Old Dracula for its North American release. The two films were shown back-to-back as a double bill in some theatres. With its anti-black sentiment, it doesn't sound the most politically-correct film. Even for the early '70s. The star, Niven, was of course an ageing Sir James Bond in 007 spoof Casino Royale (1967).
