Starring: Lon Chaney Jnr as Larry Talbot aka The Wolf Man, Claude Rains as Sir John Talbot, Bela Lugosi as Bela and Ralph Bellamy as Col Montford.

The synopsis goes something like this ...
Chaney Jnr's slightly arrogant American, Larry, returns to his ancestral home in Wales after the tragic death of his brother. While trying to 'woo' the local hottie Jenny Williams (Fay Helm), he saves her from a vicious wolf in the woods, but not before he is bitten - and ultimately becomes cursed, turning into a werewolf, or 'wolf man' each full moon. It is eventually up to his dear old dad, Sir John (Raines) to save him, and the townsfolk, from his torment.

Something to sink your teeth into ...
Chaney Jnr's make-up apparently took six hours to apply, and then three hours to remove. Interestingly though, Chaney Jnr was not the first choice for Larry, with Dick Foran replaced one week before filming began. Another to miss out on appearing in the movie was a certain bear. The story goes, the Wolf Man was to battle it in one scene but the thing ran away during filming. What few scenes were filmed were put into the theatrical trailer. One animal that did what it was supposed to was the original 'wolf' that takes a bite out of Larry. The fact it was Chaney Jnr's own German Shepherd probably helped.
