You know who to call when you have ghosts
but who do you call when you have monsters?
Genre: Family/Horror Director: Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps, Robocop 3). Starring:
Carl Thibault as The Wolfman, Duncan Regehr as Count Dracula, Tom Noonan as Frankenstein's Monster and Andre Gower as Sean.
The synopsis goes something like this ...
After forming a 'monsters club', simply to talk about classic horror movies, a group of small-town kids get a taste of the real thing. Led by Sean (Gower), the 'squad' must try and thwart the plans of Dracula (Regehr) who has been resurrected and wants to rule the world. With the help of monstrous allies including The Wolf Man (Thibault), The Gill Man (Tom Woodruff Jnr), The Mummy (Michael Mackay) and a reluctant Frankenstein Monster (Noonan), the Count comes to town to recover a magical amulet hidden 100 years earlier by legendary vampire hunter Abraham van Helsing (Jack Gwillim).
Something to sink your teeth into ...
The Wolfman's face is said to have been modeled after that of special effects master Stan Winston (Terminator, Jurassic Park). Thibault played that hairy version of the character, while Jon Gries played his human form, only known as 'Desperate Man'. While Thibault has done little in the way of acting since, Gries still regularly pops up in movies and on TV, seen as the Rusty the bum who steals Kramer's Tupperware and rickshaw on Seinfeld, and Uncle Rico in comedy cult hit Napoleon Dynamite (2004).
