He always wanted to be special ...
but he never expected this!
Genre: Comedy/Family Director: Rod Daniel
(Like Father Like Son, Beethoven's 2nd). Starring:
Michael J. Fox as Scott Howard aka Teen Wolf,
James Hampton as Harold Howard, and
Susan Ursitti as Lisa "Boo" Marconi.
The synopsis goes something like this ...
A teenager named Scott (Fox) discovers he is getting a lot of hair on his previously pre-pubescent-appearing body and now has the ability to buy a 'keg of beer' despite looking like he's 12. At the same time, these changes, coupled with pronounced athleticism and acting prowess, all passed on from his dear old dad, Harold (Hampton), turn him into a howling success for the high school basketball team and theatre class, and ultimately Mr Popular, particularly with the ladies.
Something to sink your teeth into ...
Released in Brazil after Fox's other big hit, Back to the Future, Teen Wolf was called O Garoto do Futuro, which roughly translates to The Boy from the Future, even though, of course, this movie is about Scott 'Teen Wolf' Howard, not Marty 'Futureboy' McFly. The movie was followed by the so cleverly-named (sarcasm) Teen Wolf Too (1987), with another sit-com star Jason Bateman as the cousin of Fox's character. Not sure what they called it in Brazil though. Maybe The Boy from the Hogan Family?
