Genre: Horror/Fantasy Director: Paul Naschy (The Night of the Executioner). Starring: Paul Naschy as Waldemar Daninsky aka The Werewolf, Silvia Aguilar as Erika, Azucena Hernández as Karen and Julia Saly as Countess Elisabeth Bathory.
The synopsis goes something like this ... The werewolf Daninsky (Naschy) is sentenced to execution along with Elizabeth Bathory and a number of her fellow witches. Since it is nearly impossible to truly kill him, Daninsky is left in a 'living death', with a silver dagger through his heart and an iron mask to keep him from biting. 200 years later though the dagger and mask are removed and Daninsky returns to activity to fight a resurrected Bathory, who just happens to have a fetish for bathing in the blood of young women.
Something to sink your teeth into ... Also known as El Retorno del Hombre Lobo, or The Craving, the film is the ninth in the series of 12 featuring Spainiard Naschy's Count Daninksy, the first being the previously-listed La Marca del Hombre Lobo or Frankenstein's Bloody Terror (1968), and ending with Tomb of the Werewolf (2003). It was apparently Naschy's favorite of the series. It was afterall the first to be written and directed by him, as well as starring.
