Genre: Drama/Horror Director: Fred F. Sears (Earth vs The Flying Saucers, Rock Around the Clock, Cha-Cha-Cha Boom!). Starring: Steven Ritch as Duncan Marsh aka The Werewolf, Don Megowan as Sheriff Jack Haines and Joyce Holden as Amy Standish.
The synopsis goes something like this ... In a remote village called Mountaincrest, Marsh (Ritch) is rescued from a car accident by two local scientists. Suffering amnesia, he is then injected with a special serum containing irradiated wolf's blood, which, for unknown reasons, changes the previously gentlemanly Marsh into a vicious, bloodthirsty werewolf. There goes the neighborhood.
Something to sink your teeth into ...
The werewolf in this film was the screen's first science-fictional, non-supernatural lycanthrope. While possessed of incredible strength and ferocity, he could be killed by ordinary bullets and didn't require a full moon to cause transformation.
Ritch, who plays the title character, served in World War II on Guadalcanal, fighting in some of the worst battles. Apparently, he planned on being a blood-sucker (lawyer) after the war, but became the werewolf when he got into acting instead.
