<< JOHN KAPELOS

THEN: 28
Featuring in the integral part of Carl the Janitor, it's hard to believe John the Canadian was only a few years older than several of the actors playing the teenage characters. Must've been the balding head. He was actually second choice to play Carl, with RICK MORANIS signed but refusing to deliver over creative differences with director JOHN HUGHES. While none was ever as big as his role in THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985), John had bit parts - some bits bigger than others - in many a major comedy in the 1980s, starting with TOOTSIE (1981), and continuing with CLASS (1983), SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984), WEIRD SCIENCE (1985), ROXANNE (1987) and VIBES (1988).

I am the eyes and ears of this institution, my friends!

JOHN KAPELOS >>

NOW: 53
John has most recently been seen as Motel Manager in five episodes of long-running daytime soap opera THE DAYS OF OUR LIVES (2009). Television is where the actor has been spending most of his time in the last two decades. He was a regular on FOREVER KNIGHT (1989-95) as Det Don Schanke, and also guest starred in other series such as SEINFELD (1993), in which he memorably played Jerry's dodgy accountant, as well as L.A. LAW (1990), QUANTUM LEAP (1992), HOME IMPROVEMENT (1996), THE WEST WING (1999), ANGEL (2000), THE DEAD ZONE (2003), with Breakfast Club co-star ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL, CSI (2002), and in not one, but four episodes of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES (2006).

Come on Vern, the kids haven't changed, you have! You took a teaching position, 'cause you thought it'd be fun. Thought you could have summer vacations off . And then you found out it was actually work, and that really bummed you out - Carl the Janitor
