<< MOLLY RINGWALD

THEN: 16
After appearing as a 10-year-old in popular sit-coms of the 1970s and early '80s, DIFF'RENT STROKES and THE FACTS OF LIFE, fresh-faced Molly become one of Hollywood's favorite 'Rangas' - and the ultimate sufferer of teen angst - thanks mainly to JOHN HUGHES. The recently-deceased director helmed SIXTEEN CANDLES (1984), Molly's breakout film, and THE BREAKFAST CLUB (1985), and wrote and produced PRETTY IN PINK (1986), which could have been called Seventeen Candles. In THE BREAKFAST CLUB she plays Claire Standish, the spoiled rich kid, or self-described 'princess', who is in detention for skipping class so she can spend her parents' money on jewelry and other girly shit.

Do you know how popular I am? I am so popular.
Everybody loves me so much at this school - Claire Standish

NOW: 42
The shoe is certainly on the other foot for Molly these days. She is currently back in the spotlight portraying a mother in the god awful teen television drama THE SECRET LIFE OF AN AMERICAN TEENAGER. Molly was even nominated with on-screen husband MARK DERWIN for Choice TV Parental Unit at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards. What an honor! I guess it beats the Golden Raspberry Worst Actress nomination she received for BETSY'S WEDDING (1991), a performance that started her descent into the wilderness for more than 15 years. To be fair, she did start her own family with PANIO GIANOPOULOS. They now have three children after MOlly gave birth to twins Adele and Roman last July. There is also six-year-old Mathilda.

You can't be 16 forever - Molly Ringwald
