THEN: 22
Fresh from bit parts in TEX (1982) and THE OUTSIDERS (1983) and a lead role in cult classic REPO MAN (1984), MARTIN SHEEN's oldest son was set to play badboy John Bender in THE BREAKFAST CLUB, but took on the role of popular jock Andrew Clark after director JOHN HUGHES had failed to fill it. The unofficial leader of the Brat Pack, there were few bigger names in Hollywood in the '80s, with Emilio also starring in ST ELMO'S FIRE (1985), MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE (1986), WISDOM (1986), which he wrote and directed, THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW (1986), which he wrote, and the brilliant yet under-rated pair of STAKEOUT (1988) and YOUNG GUNS (1988) and their subsequent sequels.

Just me. Just you and me. Two hits ... me hitting you,
you hitting the floor. Any time you're ready, pal - Andrew Clark
NOW: 48
While he starred in action flicks, FREEJACK (1992), LOADED WEAPON 1 (1993) and JUDGMENT NIGHT (1993) Emilio had a largely forgettable 1990s, thanks to Disney, who made him star in not one, but three MIGHTY DUCKS movies (1992-96) and then failed to support his return to directing, THE WAR AT HOME (1996). The film dealing with a young man returning from the Vietnam War would be a sign of weightier things to come for Emilio, who after helming a few episodes of TV shows THE GUARDIAN, COLD CASE and CSI: NY, made the critically-acclaimed BOBBY (2006), revolving around the assassination of Senator ROBERT F. KENNEDY, and has two more dramatic pieces, THE WAY and THE PUBLIC, on the way in 2010.
People come up to me on the street and say, 'Men at Work is the funniest movie I ever saw in my life'. But, I do have to question how many movies these people have seen - Emilio Estevez
