Not to be confused with Eric Stoltz' Mask (1985), who was deformed, though pretty super in some respects. This is the vehicle in which Carrey really burst onto the scene, cementing the status he had built with Ace Ventura. He stars as a downtrodden (ie. weak-as-piss) bank teller who comes across a magical mask that gives him the power to ... channel Looney Tunes cartoon characters like Bugs Bunny, while kicking some mobster ass. This is the heavily-animated Carrey before he became a bit annoying, and Diaz, in her first role, is easy on the eye, and before she became annoying too. From director Chuck Russell (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, The Scorpion King), the film is based on the Dark Horse comic series.
