6. THE RUNNING MAN
ON THE GREEN MILE

Convicted for a crime he didn't commit, Arnold Schwarzenegger's former cop Ben Richards is forced into a public execution game show in the futuristic The Running Man (1987).

The movie is very loosely based on the short story, King wrote as Richard Bachman, with many differences between the print and screen versions. King's lead certainly wasn't a former Austrian bodybuilder.

The Green Mile (1999) is another King story dealing more with magic and mystery than scares and screams. The lives of a bunch of death row guards are turned upside down by the arrival of a giant black man who can heal. Behind the camera was Frank Darabont, who directed other King adaptations, The Shawshank Redemption (1994) and The Mist (2007). The film was nominated for four Oscars, incl. Best Picture.

WHAT IF? Framed for another murder, Arnie's Ben Richards winds up on, where else but, The Green Mile ... i just want to see him and Michael Clarke Duncan's John Coffey go head-to-head.
